about

Dylan In The Movies is the musical vehicle of Brian Sullivan - a singer and multi-instrumentalist living in Oakland, CA via Boston, MA. Dylan In The Movies' latest album, Sweet Rebel Thee, captures Brian's talent for grabbing a moment and turning it into a beautiful melody. With the help of some friends, including Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, Breeders, Belly) and the Watson Twins (Jenny Lewis), Sweet Rebel Thee takes the listener on a journey of hope, loss, and redemption. Brian released a previous EP, Feel the Pull that garnered national airplay along with television and film placements. He has also contributed tracks to American Laundromat Records' compilation albums that pay tribute to the Pixies, The Cure and The Smiths.

Saint Stephen
We wait until the light burns out we are long gone now the Halcyon days that we recall we don’t talk much about them now it’s a heady scene and a labored love it sparks the flame and chokes it out and nobody knows when the melody will end we were wild-eyed and golden then I lost you in Paris dear Stephen where’d you go I was late to the show you got caught up on the metro now I’m somewhere on the road playing solo in the gloaming of the night I’ll be spinning wishes at the Gramercy I’m a long way from where you are singing serenades for an empty bar I lost you in Boston Saint Stephen where’d you go playing songs for a ghost a handsome poet from the east coast are you back out on the road ripping solos will you send a message through the wire (just to let me know) baby get me through the night (on the radio) there’s a song that sounds like something you sang to me you can’t hold a melody but I still got the sweater you wore on the cover of some rock and roll magazine

Oh, My Unrequited
I took your picture a glare of sunlight in your eye this is how I remember you underneath a city sky it’s an occupation burns you out and leaves you dry but we won’t be defined by what we do from 9 to 5 it’s only how we stay alive but I’m alright now maybe I get just a little broken but I’m all right now I got songs playing in my head and you standing there have I ever told you sometimes I still see your face if you’re preoccupied I won’t bother I won’t try I’ll just call it a night oh my unrequited you look sad and far away and I do believe that someday you and me we’ll look back on all this and smile and I’m all right now maybe I get just a little broken but I’m all right now I got songs playing in my head and you standing there I took your picture a glare of sunlight in your eye

When I Was a Singer
When I was a singer I stole the show a pill in my pocket a bill up my nose where I’m today well god only knows when I was a singer I stole the show I can remember a shimmering glow the prettiest faces I’ll never know when I was a singer I stole the show and the lights from the stage the love and the praise are long gone the days are unwinding and I’m letting go so think of me kindly and listen up close I was a singer years ago I kept them reeling and stole the show
